08 - Believer or Unbeliever?

What is the essential difference between the unbeliever and the Christian?

Listen now

...in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. (2 Thessalonians 1:8-10)

Jesus Christ, who came the first time "to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10) is coming again to judge the world. In His judgment He will first separate believers from unbelievers. This separation of saved and unsaved is fundamental to the Gospel since the Gospel involves absolutes. The Christian is someone who has heard the way of God and has submitted to and followed it, but the unbeliever has done the opposite.

The unbeliever will try to apply his own logic and intellect to the Scriptures, when really he is in no position to debate them. But the believer has faith in the message of God. The believer does not try to correct the Scriptures, but rather submits to what has already been written. A person cannot have both God and his worldly thinking. The day of judgment is coming and all will stand before the Lord. Eternity apart from God in Hell awaits the unbeliever, but eternity with a just and loving God awaits the Christian.
