04 - Authentic Marks of God's Child

What are the marks of God's child, according to Scripture?

Listen

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13)

When the Christian is saved, we are freed from God's righteous judgment and saved from eternity in Hell. God also gives us the right to become His children, and entrance into the kingdom of Heaven. What are the marks of God's child, according to Scripture? They include these: Am I concerned about the name of God? Do I grieve at sin and blasphemy? Do I enjoy creation in a way that reflects my understanding that the world is God's? Do I look forward to Christ's return? In this sermon Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones examines these questions, focusing on the specific, detailed answers we find in the Scriptures. As the Holy Spirit writes through the Apostle Paul, "Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? - unless indeed you are disqualified" (2 Corinthians 13:5).
