Logos Bible Software now promotes the Roman Catholic doctrine of Mary as "Queen of Heaven."

June 2012 - We recently published an article demonstrating that Logos Bible Software's promotion of Roman Catholicism has confirmed our ministry's decision to stop offering their software. While Logos president Bob Pritchett and other company representatives claim that Logos remains "Evangelical", their actions continue to confirm our original observation that Logos Bible Software is turning into "a willing missionary arm of the Vatican."

Aiding Rome's "New Evangelization"

The latest evidence is Logos' announcement of the publication of an electronic version of Queen Mother: A Biblical Theology of Mary's Queenship by Edward Sri, which they have fully integrated with their Queen Mother - Edward Srisoftware. Sri is a nationally-known Roman Catholic speaker often featured on the Vatican's EWTN television network. He is the chancellor of the Augustine Institute, a Roman Catholic seminary in Denver, Colorado whose motto is "A New Kind of Graduate School for the New Evangelization". Sri is also author of The New Rosary in Scripture: Biblical Insights for Praying the 20 Mysteries and The Bible Compass: A Catholic's Guide to Navigating the Scriptures.

"New Evangelization" is a worldwide Vatican initiative that originated with Pope Paul VI, gained prominence in the writings of Pope John Paul II, and continues to be a major focus during the reign of Benedict XVI. "New Evangelization" involves not only the worldwide spread of Roman Catholic dogma, but more importantly the goal of worldwide Catholicization -- the building of a one-world church -- through joint efforts with non-Catholics in social and political "reform" and economic "justice".

A major emphasis of the New Evangelization is the co-opting of Evangelicals -- who should, if they are true to Scripture, be Rome's most ardent opponents -- through initiatives such as those advocated in the November 2009 Manhattan Declaration, which a wide range of undiscerning "evangelical" leaders have signed onto. (Click here for an analysis of the true intent of the Manhattan Declaration.)

Promoting Mary's "Queenship"

In Queen Mother: A Biblical Theology of Mary's Queenship, Edward Sri promotes the Roman Catholic doctrines of Mary the mother of Jesus as "Queen of Heaven" - a mediatrix and co-redemptrix who is falsely claimed by Rome to be "the administra of grace, meaning that she administers or dispenses it." [1] (For a refutation of Rome's heresies concerning Mary, see our articles Is Mary a Mediatrix and the Co-Redemptrix? and Did Mary Speak in Tongues at Pentecost?)

In its online advertisement for Queen Mother, Logos Bible Software says this:

While church tradition bears strong witness to Mary's role as royalty, to date, the biblical basis to support such doctrine has been unclear. In Queen Mother: A Biblical Theology of Mary's Queenship, Edward Sri elucidates the common approaches taken to Mary's role as queen and demonstrates how the "queen mother" theme in the Davidic kingdom can shed light on the presentation of Mary as heavenly queen in the New Testament and in the church. Tracing the "queen mother" motif through ancient literature and identifying it in key prophetic and Revelation texts, Sri attempts to marry tradition with doctrine through a serious engagement with both Old and New Testament readings.

In the Logos Bible Software edition, all Scripture references in Queen Mother are tagged and appear on mouse-over. This makes this resource easier to access and more powerful than ever before. The incorporation of the exegesis and dogmatic studies found in this volume with your preferred Bible, the Passage Guide, and the other Bible study tools in Logos Bible Software allows you to dive into Bible study with a significant knowledge base right in front of you. [2]

Thus Logos continues to employ its growing resources and popularity to become exactly what its president, Bob Pritchett, falsely claims it is not: "a willing missionary arm of the Vatican." The denials becomes more incredible with each new Logos product announcement.
