Musk and his associates think they can control the next steps in alleged human evolution - achieving immortality. How wrong they are. Only God can give us immortality - and He has already purchased it for every believer in Jesus Christ.
February 4, 2025 - Elon Musk may be the richest man in the world, but he knows that he is mortal. Each day that passes, he is one day closer to the day he will die. And so Mr. Musk, and many others, are trying to do something about it: They are committed to the false religion of evolutionism. They believe that while all the evolution that allegedly happened in the past has been a matter of time and chance, the future of evolution will be implemented by man himself.
Musk and his fellow believers in evolutionism claim that by embedding ever advancing technology in the human body through brain-machine interfaces or BMIs, powered by artificial intelligence, man will achieve immortality. Elon Musk owns a company called Neuralink, which is dedicated to achieving this goal. One online commentator says this:
While we are not yet at the point of achieving digital immortality, the advancements in merging biology with technology and leveraging AI in medicine bring us closer to this once fantastical goal. Immortality might still be a distant dream, but with companies like Neuralink...leading the charge, it feels more within reach with each passing day.[1]
How wrong these people are. The truth of the Bible remains unchanged, and never will change. Hebrews 9:27 tells us that "it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the Judgment." Romans 8:21 tells us that the entire creation is under "the bondage of corruption" and none of us has the power to escape it - not even the richest man in the world.
The Bible tells us that God alone can provide the means of escape, and He has done it. The Bible declares that because of our salvation by the incorruptible blood of our incorruptible Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, those who trust in Him alone for salvation shall have incorruptible bodies. We read of this in the great resurrection chapter, First Corinthians 15:
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed - in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the Law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:50-56)
God, who alone can do it, will give immortality to every individual who trusts in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. God will give every believer an incorruptible body, because God has given us victory over death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Sometimes in our flesh we tend to focus on all the defeats of this life. Personal defeats because of the problem of indwelling sin. And corporate defeats as well: Sometimes the true church of Jesus Christ around the world looks so small and ineffectual to the human eye. But First Corinthians 15 reminds us that, in the great plan of God, by His grace and by His grace alone, we are on the winning side.
One day we are going to see that. No more personal defeats. No more corporate defeats. All of the saints of all time, raised together, incorruptible, immortal. No sting of death. No more strength of sin.
Thanks be to God, who has given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:57-58).
