Have You Been Translated?

Spiritually speaking, Christians have been moved from one "country" to another. We have been separated from this present evil world, separated unto God. But God has not driven us into another land as conquered enemies. He has rescued us in love "from the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son."

In Colossians 1:13, the Apostle Paul uses a very interesting word to describe what has happened to believers in Christ: We have been "translated" (KJV) or "conveyed" (NKJV).

This word was used in ancient times to describe situations where a conquering ruler moved an entire defeated nation from one country to another. For example, the word describes Israel's exile to Assyria, and Judah's deportation to Babylon.

Spiritually speaking, Christians have been moved from one "country" to another. We have been separated from this present evil world, separated unto God. But God has not driven us into another land as conquered enemies. He has rescued us in love "from the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son." The Father has given us victory over the powers of darkness through the finished work of Christ. He has translated or conveyed us into the authority and protection of Christ's glorious kingdom.

The critical question for every soul on earth is this: Have you been translated?
