Today we focus on one of the Bible's most precious truths: Christ's coming into this world 2,000 years ago demonstrates the fact that God always keeps His promises.
As Peter puts it, we have "a more sure word of prophecy" (2 Peter 1:19) -- literally, "the prophetic word made more sure."
Paul puts it this way: "All the promises of God in Christ are 'Yes,' and in Him, 'Amen' " (2 Corinthians 1:20). In the Old Testament we have the "Yes" -- God's promises. In the person and work of Jesus Christ we have "Amen" -- the substantiation and fulfillment of everything God promised through His prophets.
Because that is true, every believer on the Lord Jesus Christ can trust in God's promise of salvation from sin and wrath, His promises for everything we need for this life, as well as the promise of eternal life in the new heavens and new earth.
