The world wants salvation on its own sinful terms - deliverance from condemnation, with no change in its current way of life. But true conversion changes everything.
Listen
So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to do?" Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." (Acts 9:6)
The world wants salvation on its own sinful terms - deliverance from condemnation, but with no change in its current way of life. The natural man wants to remain in sin while enjoying the hope of heaven. In this sermon Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones dispels this myth by confronting the cold heart that hears of Christ's work on the cross yet remains emotionally unmoved and entrenched in sin. Salvation involves a grief over sin based on the realization that disobedience to God demands eternal separation from Him in Hell. True conversion requires the conviction of the heart and mind over the weight of sin and the guilt that one cannot escape, and results in a triumphant faith that fears sin because of the price paid by the Savior. The saving truth of the Gospel changes everything. The proof of salvation is obedience to God's Word - a changed way of life.
